カバー版についての話は続きに。
口調をかなり抑えて訳したのですが、レディングの声からは本当はもっと、てやんでえな印象を受けます。

*shaggy
歌詞サイトによってはshabbyとなっているところも多く、カバー版でもshabbyと歌っている歌手が多いのだが、レディングのアルバム版を聞く限りshaGGyと歌っているように聴こえるので、ここではshaggy（粗末な）とした。

この曲は数多くの歌手がカバーしてきた有名な曲で、オーティス・レディングの楽曲と認知されていることが多いが、実際の原曲は1932年にレイ・ノーブル楽団（ジャズバンド）により発表されたもので、レディングがこの曲のアレンジ版を1968年に発表し有名になったという経緯がある。レイ・ノーブル版のジャズダンス的な穏やかな印象とは一転、レディング版はソウルフルなアレンジが成され、全く異なる楽曲のように聴こえる。
映画「ザ・コミットメンツ」のアンドリュー・ストロング版はちょっとファンク。

クリス・ブラウン版は若者受けが良さそう。
