【文法解説】Frozen - Let It Go

アナと雪の女王の和訳を載せて以来、毎日半端じゃないアクセス数を記録しています。全然見てもらえないのも寂しいけど、ここまで凄いのもちょっと怖い…

わたしのブログを読んで歌詞を考察している方が少なからずいらっしゃるようなので、文法解説というか、直訳ぎみに訳し直してみます。この記事を読む前に、意訳した元の記事を読んでくださると、比較しやすいかなと思います。アスタリスクが意訳した部分で、太字がその解説です。

※映画の内容を含む解説ではなく、あくまで独立したひとつの楽曲としての解説です。

今夜 山に雪が白く輝き
足跡ひとつ見当たらない
孤立の王国
そしてどうやら
女王はわたしの役目らしい

*not to be seen = 見当たらない
*it looks like = どうやら～らしい

The wind is howling like this swirling storm *inside
Couldn’t keep it in, *heaven knows I tried
身体の内に渦巻く嵐のように 風が唸る
隠しきれなかった
わたしの努力は 天が知っている

*inside = 身体の内側、心
*heaven knows
意訳版では「わたしだって努力はした」とした。直訳だとやたら信心深い言い回しに見えるけど、「誰にも分かってもらえなくても自分は分かってる」くらいの意味。

誰も入れてはいけない
誰にも見られてはいけない
良い子にしていなさい
いつまでも良い子にしていなさい
けれど知られてしまったからには

*them = 総称用法
*let them in = 入れてはいけない
「心を許すな」という意味にもなるが、文脈で読めば映画の内容通りに「城に入れるな」という意味。
*see = 見る、気付く、悟る
「魔法を見せるな」で見るの解釈を採用。

どうでもいい
放っておこう
これ以上は我慢できない
どうでもいい

背を向け 音を立てて扉を閉ざす

*let it go = どうでもいい、放っておく
*hold back = 抑える、我慢する

I don’t care

他人に何を言われるとしても
わたしは気にしない
嵐を吹き荒れるがままに
いずれにせよ 寒さを疎ましく思ったことはない

It’s *funny how some distance

面白いのは
距離を取るだけで
全てが小さく見えるという事実
以前わたしを支配していた恐怖心は
わたしを捕まえられない

*funny that = ～って面白い、面白いくらい～
*get to O = Oに辿り着く
捕まえる、居場所を突き止める

*one with
one with the luckが「幸運の持ち主」となるように、withの後ろにつくものはoneを象徴するもの。
*you = 総称用法

嵐を 吹き荒れるがままにして

*stand
「立つ」よりもその場にいることを示す意味合いが強い。
